Green theatre

„Green theatre"

Implementer: Chocianów Nursery School

Problem: The Chocianów Nursery School is the only one of its kind in the entire municipality of Chocianów. The school grounds are unappealing. To give the school a makeover, an idea was hatched to create a a theatre which would consist of a built-up stage area and an auditorium with benches. However, shortages in the school budget in recent years made it difficult to set aside funding for grounds development.

Objective: The objective of the project is to promote the municipality through the organisation of community events.

The main goals to be achieved are:

a) to create an outdoor theatre in the nursery school garden,

b) to organise meetings, celebrations for children and adults.

Project implementation and results: Highlights of project work included:

1. Improving 200 m2 of open space in the nursery school garden and adapting it for use as a community recreation area, which involved:

- raking up the leaves and cleaning up the entire area,

- purchasing, constructing and painting the wooden sections of the stage (incl. the trellis) and setting up 10 benches,

- buying and bringing over 3 bags of soil,

- collecting and bringing in stones for 2 rock gardens and to form a border arround the stage,

- purchasing and supplying 30 pansies, 23 decorative plants for placement in the rock gardens and in between the rocks bordering the stage, 5 climbing plants for the trellice and 10 tree saplings for planting near the theatre space.

2. Festivity for the entire local community, including partners and donors. Events included the staging by the 6-year old group of the play „Dwarf" by D. Gellner and a sports meet, the aim of which was to teach the principles of „healthy competition".

3. Meetings with interesting people, including Mr. Robert Tomczak, deputy forester and staff member of the Złotoryja Forest District Office, who delivered a talk on „The role of the forest for humans".

4. A variety of competitions, including an environmental competition with contestants from among the reception classes at a number of area primary schools, including Parchów, Trzebnice, Szklary Dolne, as well as from the Przemków Public Nursery School.
