„Green corner"

 

Implementer: Farming Association in Przedwojów

 

Problem: A few years ago the decision was made to close down the local school and since then the former school building and school grounds began deteriorating and taking on a more squalid appearance. The village did not have a playground, public squares, parks or even benches on which to sit. In short, children, youth and older village residents did not have a place where they could meet and spend time outdoors. Another quality missing from the picture was an appreciation and awareness of the need to look after the natural environment.

 

Objective: The main goal of the project was to thoroughly clean up the school grounds and inspire through hands-on activities a greater interest and care in the natural environment by the local inhabitants.

 

Project implementation and results: Project work involved:

1. Organising an all-village meeting to identify community needs and future goals,

2. An art competition run by the local after-school group, the theme of which how changing and improve the look of the school grounds,

3. Creating a Green Corner:

- cleaning up the grounds by removing litter and weeds,

- setting up to 2 benches with tables, sand pit, 3 swings and 2 rubbish receptacles,

- planting 20 tree saplings and bushes.

 

Project partners (and contribution): : parents (cleaned up the grounds and planted the vegetation), Kamienna Góra Municipality (officially handed over the area for use as a rest and recreation space; sponsored an information sign), Village Council (sponsored a second information sign as well as plant identification signs),  „Debiut" Youth Chess Club in Przedwojów (cleaned up the grounds), the „Croquet" Company (making and setting up playground equipment as well as benches with tables and rubbish bins).
